On the Track

Some of our work that is also “On the Track”

1966 Austin Healey 3000 Race Car – Some off-season maintenance work and new competition motor rebuild for the 2016 season.

1969 Alfa Romeo GTV Race Car – John Saccameno’s Alfa raced mainly in group 8 or Trans Am B Sedan with Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs and Vintage Sports Car Driver’s Association. The car runs with a competition 2 liter motor, OS Giken custom gear set in a standard gearbox and tightened limited slip rear end. Brakes are basically stock with upgraded master cylinders.

1960 Austin Healey 3000 Race Car – Installed fuel cell and fitted misc. trim and front end paint

1962 Austin Healey 3000 Race Car – After an unfortunate racing incident, this car needed a frame rail replacement and shroud / fender work. The entire car was then repainted. Looks great and runs great now!

1971 Datsun 240Z Race Car – Mark Atkinson, our graphic designer and major supporter built this beautiful and fast Z. When he decided to build another car he sold it to our Checkered Past member Bob Mitchell. We’ve helped with various support issues on this car for prep and running.

1963 Triumph Spitfire Race Car  – This H Production competitor came to us after bouncing around a few different shops and not completing many races. The car has been treated to a full engine rebuild, new clutch, some electrics and a thorough going over. Ready for the 2017 season early this year!

1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite – John Saccameno’s Bugeye, raced since 1979 along the East Coast and Florida, and been with John since 1997. It has been recently raced with a 1275 motor and close ration gearset. Fun and reliable car with many Midwest races on it’s log books.

Vintage Racing Services

Driver Coaching

Sport and Specialty is six miles from Blackhawk Farms Raceway. We have the ability to prepare both the car and driver for competition. John Saccameno is a Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs licensed and certified instructor. He also holds driving privileges with VSCDA and is licensed by the Vintage Motorsports Council. In addition, John has a huge amount of experience at Blackhawk Farms and has helped many drivers find the fast line around the track. Contact John directly through the shop.

Race Safety Inspections

We can provide technical inspections for MCSCC vehicles, as well as give guidance for most US vintage racing organizations. We can review General Competition Rules as they apply to your car and ensure compliance at your event. This is extremely important when preparing a car for a new sanctioning body, or new race series. In addition, we can supply and install most needed safety gear.

Race Car Rentals

We have a well prepared and very reliable 1961 Austin Healey “Bugeye” Sprite available for rental. Typically available for schools or school/race weekends. Give us a call to discuss the particulars and your needs as a new or re-treaded driver.
